Die Produktionsgemeinschaft "finger" gründete sich im Jahr 1998 aus den beiden Künstlergemeinschaften Schmidl/Haas und Brandt/Wolf. Ausgangspunkt für die zukünftige Arbeit war das gemeinsame Interesse an Alltagskultur. Als erstes Projekt gab finger die gleichnamige Zeitschrift heraus.
